As performance and efficiency become increasingly more important in reducing vessel emissions and exploring sustainable energy systems, CFD technology and design optimisation are at the forefront of many new designs. Due to the increasing demand for our CFD analysis, we are delighted to announce two new key members to our engineering team for 2026!
Marcus Boyd – CFD Engineer
After completing a year long work placement with Cape Horn Engineering in 2023, Marcus returned to the University of the West of England to finish his degree. Achieving a First Class BEng(Hons) in Aerospace Engineering, Marcus has now returned to Cape Horn Engineering, as a full time CFD Engineer.
Based in Portsmouth, in his spare time, Marcus enjoys surfing, free-diving and motorbike riding.
Elena Lopez – Machine Learning Specialist
The most recent addition to Cape Horn Engineering, Elena has recently completed a master’s degree in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence at the University of Portsmouth. Her main area of interest is in the world of AI and natural language processing and she is delighted to be able to apply her knowledge in a marine engineering driven environment.
Elena is originally from Spain and in the realm of programming, is always passionate about neural networks and rule based learning, which she implemented in a bachelor’s degree in Video Game Development, at the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos in Madrid.
