Congratulations to everyone involved!
As a ‘Gold Sponsor’ we’ve supported our next generation of marine engineers, – designing, manufacturing and racing a zero-emissions, all electric foiling catamaran, for the recent Monaco Energy Boat Challenge 2026.
We’re incredibly proud to share that Cambridge University Riviera Racing has just completed their most successful Monaco Energy Boat Challenge yet! Flying the flag as the only British team in the Energy Class, and competing against a highly competitive international field of 28 teams, they were placed in the top 10 across all four races.
A major highlight of the week was securing 7th place in the speed trials and setting a new team top speed record of 18.1 knots. This marks a massive step up from last year and is the very first time the team has successfully completed every single race on the schedule.

Built upon the success of their previous boat Aurora, which competed at the MEBC 2025, Atomstack featured several new innovations, including:
Hydrofoils – To improve efficiency and reduce the drag experienced by the hulls
Solar Panels – Charging efficiency and safety, with increased power
Smarter Software – Innovative capabilities, including race strategy prediction
Building a hydrofoiling catamaran requires extreme precision. Cape Horn Engineering’s advanced CFD support and single and multi-phase simulations, specifically focused on take-off and stability analysis. This data was crucial for ensuring the new hydrofoils generated the right lift to get the boat flying efficiently.
Cambridge University Riviera Racing already have some highly ambitious technical upgrades in the pipeline for the 2027 season.
